Smiths Cliffs and Mermaids’ Pool with Friends

It has been said that what you share is what you attract. This is so true, as soon as I share something on my socials or my blog, suddenly there is more of that in my life or in the universe I am in. So during holiday break, my college age son came home and we explored Laguna Beach coves and swam in mermaids pool at low tide. As soon as I shared those photos on instagram I was asked about how to get there and when to go. I need very few excuses to need to get back over there, so taking a few friends that were in my dm’s was an adventure I didn’t know I needed. Seeing a favorite place in the eyes of your friends seeing it for the first time is so rewarding.

It was a magical night, with clear skies and a pack of boys ready to jump in the mermaid’s pool, spoiler alert, no one did. The bottom of the pool is covered in urchins, and to go in would be a very delicate dance of not touching the bottom. This was a bit scary for this crew, so we will save that for another day.

But the best part about the trip over are the views of other kids exploring lesser crowded areas of the beach. This is by far my favorite hobby, exploring the coves of any beach, but Laguna especially!

The logistics of getting my camera over to this side of the beach was a bit precarious, and there might have been a few close calls, but all is good and functioning in my Canon R5. Note to self, bring a backpack next time.

We made it back just as it got dark, and just in time for one last football game with strangers.
